Release: 26-05-2010

List of new features and notable changes for this release:
  • Even distribution based on different indicators

Even distribution based on different indicators

The feature provides even distribution based on one of the following indicators:

1. Successful clicks
2. Actions
3. Post-click actions
4. Post-view actions
5. All impressions
6. All clicks

The functionality allows users to better adjust the delivery plan to the campaign assumptions. Even distribution of impressions based on different indicators is possible either on the level of orders or the whole campaign.

Figure 1: The feature on campaign level

If you would like to set it for an order then please go the order editing view in your campaign and in the “number of events” row select the indicator according to which impressions should be planned. For each order a different indicator can be selected.

Figure 2: The feature on order level

In order to set even distribution of impressions for a whole campaign, please go to the “Properties” submenu of the campaign and set the “Impression mode” setting to the “for entire campaign” option. Then enter the number of all planned events and select the appropriate indicator. If planning is set for the entire campaign then the largest possible value for ASAP percentage is 50% and the ASAP checkbox also gets hidden (it would set ASAP to 100%). The state of the checkbox will also have no influence on the planning algorithm. Turning the algorithm on results in overwriting the plans of all orders within the campaign and set their “Number of events” value to “-1” and “all impressions” as an indicator. The algorithm‘s main goal is to fulfill the plan of the campaign while securing the even distribution of impressions over the campaign’s or order’s time period.

If the planning of even distribution based on different indicators is set on campaign level (i.e. in campaign properties the “Impression mode” is set to “for entire campaign”) and you leave the “number of events” field empty, the “impression mode” setting will still overwrite the “impression mode” settings of the orders. However, the value of “number of events” field and the selected indicator are not changed for the orders within the campaign (so, the ASAP percentage might be changed for every order, but the planned number of events in orders will not be changed and one of them might be set for “all clicks” while the other one for “all impressions”). If the “number of events” field is empty then the ASAP checkbox becomes visible and any ASAP value between 1 and 100% is allowed.

To make sure that the algorithm is working properly if “Successful clicks”, “Actions”, “Post-click actions”, “Post-view actions” or “All clicks” indicators are selected, the given order (if planning is based on orders) or the order with the shortest time of delivery in the campaign (in case of planning for the entire campaign) has to last longer than 48 hours and at least 5 events per hour should be planned.

In case of “All impressions” indicator, the given order (if planning is based on orders) or the order with the shortest time of delivery in the campaign (in case of planning for the entire campaign) has to last longer than 24 hours and at least 5 events per hour should be planned.

A new icon will also be introduced which informs you if an order a campaign reaches the planned number of indicators. This new icon will appear in the “Status” column if the plan is fulfilled based on the goal set for the order or campaign but the time period for delivering the ads is still not over. The new icon helps you to make difference between campaigns and orders that finished because of the end date has passed already and those that finish because reaching the number of planned events.
